Here at bcbc we are a diverse community of people from many different backgrounds, ages and cultures. We are committed to listening to one another, honouring one another, learning from one another and growing together in love.
In Ephesians the Apostle Paul explains that Christ’s ‘purpose was to create in himself one new humanity’ (Ephesians 2:15).
We see this vision becoming reality at bcbc as God’s Spirit brings together people from many different backgrounds. By the grace and power of the Holy Spirit we are beginning to experience the love of Christ which transcends differences of gender, generation, ethnicity, colour, family unit, social and economic status, educational opportunity, mental and physical health experience, tradition, spiritual gifting and personality type.
In a globally diverse city such as London, such ‘diversity in unity’ congregations are living demonstrations of God’s age-long purpose to ‘bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ’ (Ephesians1:10).
Reflecting on the mission God entrusts to His church, Sri Lankan Christian leader Vinoth Ramachandra explains that:
Mission in not primarily about going. Nor is mission primarily about doing anything. Mission is about being. It is about being a distinctive kind of people, a countercultural, multinational community among the nations. It is modelling before the world what the living God of the Bible really is like.
It’s our privilege here at bcbc to be growing into such a community. We’re far from perfect; but this is what God is calling us to become and we are excited at what God is doing.
We hope you’ll want to explore God’s vision of a new humanity church with us.
